I'm Josh Willis. The person behind CYPHR Combat.
I'm a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt at Team Perosh Mixed Martial Arts in Sydney, and I've spent my life between two worlds: making garments and playing sport. CYPHR is where they meet.

1970s–2000s
Willis Lingerie
My story starts with Willis Lingerie, my family's business in Sydney. Willis built its reputation on craftsmanship: garments made locally, from the finest fabrics, with a focus on fit and finish that bordered on obsession. The philosophy was simple: if we liked it, we made it. That was my first lesson in the rag trade, and it's stayed with me ever since.

2000s
Rowing and rugby
Sport has always been the other half of my life. I rowed for NSW at the Youth Olympics, then played rugby for Eastern Suburbs RUFC, where we won the 2002 2nd Grade Colts premiership. It taught me discipline, teamwork, and what gear has to do under pressure.

2006–2016
Pontoon Sports
In 2006 I co-founded Pontoon Sports, a custom teamwear business. For ten years we made kit for rowing clubs, schools and teams in Australia and around the world, including the Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race, the Australian Canoe/Kayak team and Fiji Rugby.
That's where I learned how team orders really work: sizing a whole squad, matching colours across garments and hitting a date.

2016–today
BJJ and CYPHR Combat
I started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Anthony Perosh in 2016. Blue belt in 2020, purple in 2022, and Anthony promoted me to brown belt in December 2025.
CYPHR Combat grew out of everything before it: a lifetime around garment making, ten years of custom teamwear, and years on the mats learning what holds up in training. I design every product myself and personally look after every academy and team order.
On the mats today
Still training. Still learning.
Brown belt came nearly ten years after my first class at Team Perosh. I still train every week at home and learn from other coaches too, like the camp I did in Thailand with Heath Pedigo. I wear and test CYPHR gear in my own training, so if a rash guard rides up or a seam rubs, I find out before your team does.
